2015 Final RCX at Meyerton

 The one

RCX Qualifiers 5 December 2015

RCX Finals 6 December 2015

Although the track records of the previous race were not broken this time around, I am quite sure that a couple of drivers have indeed achieved their personal goals. I know for a fact that the young man from Bloemfontein, Patrick Bouillon raced his best race EVER. He is now a real threat to his champion half-brother, the well known SJ Coetzer. Patrick’s fastest lap on this day was 47.7 seconds. Patrick is getting sooooooo close to SJ’s best lap 45.8. Well done Patrick!!  Martinette Huggett, female racer from Midrand and Avion, before retiring from RC (for a while?) almost managed to break through the magic 50 seconds barrier. She boasts a fastest lap of 50.10 seconds during the final race of the day. Mooi so! And local Tertius van Rooyen did us proud with his excellent performance. He raced his personal best lap of 45.98 seconds, which earned him a well deserved place in the A mains. Hooray!!!!

It is already more than a month ago, and after a long(ish) Christmas break, I cannot recall everything. But if I can believe my eyes, it seems that, according to the race results, the track record for this event belongs to Thomas Schmuck, when he managed to complete his last lap of the day in the electric buggy class in a record time of 39.06 seconds. That is just awesome!

Please note: The RCX challenge series will return to a one day only event from 2016. Two legs at Meyerton on 13 March and 4 September and two legs at Avion on 5 June and a final leg for the year on 4th December.
