A bit of background info: The founding meeting was held at the home of Henry Ogden, that is adjacent to the tracks, on December 10 th 2008.
The weather bureau forecasted a hot day – like in 31 degrees – but instead the morning started with not cool, but actually VERY cold weather!
The remainder of the day changed from cool to slightly warm, but it never became hot. But as we all know; the moment a person gets busy, you tend to forget about the cold, so we all eventually survived the unexpected chill.
Two new drivers joined the Beginner class. We welcome Cornea and Shaun. We are pleased to see that you have enjoyed your first club race and we hope to have you back in the near future.
Giovanni Toldo invited his parents as well as his brother and kids to watch the race. It seems like his brother is interested in purchasing a car as well, and the kids will follow soon, no doubt…
Winner of Best Presented RC body of the Day:
Piet du Toit – Congratulations!
Beginner class:
This month saw 5 drivers in this class. Tyronne Visser won both the qualifiers and the final legs.
He is now more confident and he averaged 25.5 throughout the day.
Tyrone is seriously considering leaving the Beginner class behind and we are leaving the decision up to him, because he is entitled to stay there until such time that he feels comfortable to move on.
His fastest lap today – 23.49s.
Lauren Winiecki improved quite a bit this month. She took 2nd place twice and 3rd once. Her lap time also improved remarkably.
Esmarie started doing SO well, but disaster struck and the car that she got to know and handle so well, broke. Esmarie went back to her initial car, but her performance was held back and she could not show off her newly acquired skills. She nevertheless achieved a fastest lap of 25.52 seconds.
Novice lady driver, Cornea Paynter improved from an average lap time of 53 seconds to 40 seconds. Her quickest lap on this day – 34.13s.
Shaun Bezuidenhout, also a new driver – apart from playing on parking lots – kept a steady 28 second lap time throughout the day.
Overall :
Electric Mini:
Unfortunately only three drivers this month. I have no idea where the rest of our regular Mini drivers were…
Giovanni and Ewald were each other’s fiercest competition, but that does not mean that Janu Lombard was not a force that had to be reckoning with. In actual fact; Janu boasts the quickest lap of them all on this day – 22.75s. Well done! A pity that you missed out on the 1st leg of the Final, Janu. That definitely jeopardized your position for the Overall results.
But Giovanni and Ewald were more consistent in their driving and that counts for a lot..
Overall:
TTO1 Stock:
Rolan Ferreira dominated this class again, like he did so many times before. He won each and every race. His best lap – 20.73s. That one race without a transponder, when I had to add your laps manually, will keep you in debt with me forever, Rolan…haha
9 year old Nathan Steyn’s best lap today – 23.67s.
Louis Nortje, the guy that moved out of the Beginners class just last month, performed well. He had several laps of 22.something seconds, of which the quickest lap for the day was 22.29s Well done!!
Janu Lombard had a somewhat troublesome start in the morning, but as the day progressed, his performance picked up. His best lap – 23.08s. Good for you!
For a variety of reasons, Henry Ogden only took part in the second qualifier. He did not do too badly in that race… his best lap being 23 seconds.

Electric 540 :
The Landsbergs were absent yet again… So, in their absence, this is what happened:
Artur won every race, as he did last month, but with stiff competition from his friend, Giovanni Toldo.
And not to forget lady driver Anzea Pretorius!! Actually, all of the drivers were doing well.
Artur’s best lap – 19.68s
Giovanni’s best lap – 18.68s Wow!!!!!!!!!!!
Piet du Toit’s best lap – 19.35s Great!
Henry Ogden’ s best lap – 20.40s
Anzea’s best lap – 20.56s You Go, Girl!
Rolan Ferreira’s best lap – 20.64s
Louis Nortje’s best lap – 20.75s
Francois Geyser did not complete the race. I think he offered his car to his wife, after her car broke down.
Overall:
21.5 Touring:
Rolan Ferreira dominated this class as he did with TTO1. He won all four races.
Rolan’s quickest lap – 19.34s Well done!
Ewald van der Neut was either 2nd or 3rd and his fastest lap had been 19.23s
Kevin Gates had some serious car trouble that disadvantaged him on this day. It seems that towards the end of the day he however managed to overcome his problems. He still managed to pull off some fast laps. Best lap – 19.63
Piet du Toit did not take part in the qualifiers, but he more than made up for it by performing pretty well in the finals. Piet’s fastest lap – 19.47s
Henry’s fastest lap in this class today – 20.89s
Janu Lombard’s quickest lap – 21.08s
Francois Geyser’s quickest lap – 21.19s
Overall:
17.5 Touring:
André Steenekamp and Kevin Gates had to battle this one out between the two of them.
The final winner was determined by the one who had the smallest amount of car trouble..!
No, let me be serious: Kevin, in spite of loads of breakdowns, performed extremely well at the times when his car played along. His best lap was a VERY quick 15.78 second.
Hope to see at least 50 entries next month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
