March & April 2018 Nitro On Road club race:
Let me begin by saying I owe the nitro drivers an apology for not writing a race report on the March 2018 club race. I was busy with an online Graphic Design course. Between that and lots of other responsibilities I just couldn’t find the time to do so.
The award for Best Presented RC body went to Charmaine Wright.
The top 3 podium positions went to:

April 2018 Nitro On Road club race:
We were spoilt with good weather for the April Nitro On Road club race.
Seven 8th scale GT drivers gathered for this month’s race.
There were three drivers with 10th scale as well, but when one of the drivers could not his car to go, the other two agreed to not make a race with only two competitors.
The Best Presented RC body award would have gone to Charmaine Wrigh (again), but sadly our trophies were not back from our “Sandblaster Man” Hopefully we can hand Charmaine her trophy soon.
1st qualifier round:
André won this round convincingly with a at least one lap more than his rivals. But Piet du Toit was the one who boasts the quickest lap - 17.24s. Piet ended in 2nd place.
Henry Ogden ended 3rd with Hein Korff in 4th place. Both completed 17 laps and both achieved best laps of 19 seconds.
Behind Hein was Francois Geyser and Francois was followed by Anzea Pretorius.
Charmaine Wright’s car apparently wasn’t race-ready yet.
2nd qualifier round:
André won this round again, but now was followed by Hein Korff.
This time Piet ended in 3rd place, but he still boasts the fastest lap – 17.35s
Henry moved down to 4th place, but he improved on his best lap as well as his average lap time.
Charmaine seemed to have overcome her car trouble and completed the race, however not totally without a hiccup or two…
Francois improved on his driving and came down on his average lap time with two seconds.
Anzea also improved on her previous performance.
3rd qualifier round:
With the exception of Piet it had been a terrible race for all the drivers.
Three did not start and three had car trouble.
Piet was fortunate enough to complete the race with only one minor incident and managed to complete 17 laps. Best lap – 17.69s.
Final 30 minute GT race:
Piet du Toit had to quit after 35 laps due to the gearbox (or was it a diff) that came lose. His best lap- 17.36s
After 60 laps Henry lost a lower arm or something at the back of his car on his car. He fixed it and after 6 minutes he went back to the driver stand to complete one more lap before the end of the race.
Looking at the results, I cannot spot any major drama for Anzea. With the help of her boyfriend who refueled her car for her, she completed 75 beautiful laps. Way to go, Anzea!
Francois didn’t have a bad race either. He completed 76 laps.
Hein (Johan) had been out of the race for almost 4 minutes, but he hasted back to complete the race. He achieved 80 laps and ended in 3rd place.
André had trouble early on in the race and again close to the end. He however still boasts 83 laps end ended 2nd overall. Best lap – 16.79s. Best lap of all on this day! Congratulations!
Charmaine had an almost flawless race. She was supported by one of her daughters as well as by hubby Tiny Wright. She completed 88 laps all in all and won the race. Congratulations!
