Meyerton RC Raceway Racing

November 2015 On Road Electric

With 41 entries, split into 7 classes, the day was not too boring, but also not so hectic that one couldn’t enjoy the day and at least have a decent conversation with your fellow racers. And apart from a very nasty wind that tormented us all day long, it was once again a pleasant day for RC fun.

The trophy for best presented RC body for the day went to Yas Okauchi. Congratulations!

Bellow: Yas Okauchi

THE RACE:

Heat 1 – Electric Mini:

Those who excelled in the Mini class this month were Jason Landsberg, his dad Jakkie, Jannie Holtzhausen and Ewald van der Neut. Jason’s fastest lap 20.11 seconds.

Electric mini Overall results:

  1. Jason Landsberg
  2. Jakkie Landsberg
  3. Ewald van der Neut

Heat 2 – 21.5 Touring:

Surprisingly not as big a class as previous months. Only 8 entries. Quite a tight race between Kevin Gates, Ewald vd Neut, Jakkie Landsberg and  Schalk Vorster. Kevin Bann also featured in the Top Three, but he did not race to his full potential and he also stepped down and allowed for his place on the podium to be taken by his runner-up. Kevin Gates and Jason both had best laps of 19.37 seconds.

21.5 Overall results:

  1. Kevin Gates
  2. Schalk Vorster
  3. Ewald van der Neut

Nov 21.5

Heat 3 – Electric beginner class:

Anzea Pretorius was entered on-line for this race, but due to school work that wasn’t up to date, she had to stay home and catch up…eish…hope she learnt her lesson well. Literally and figuratively speaking… That left the 5 year old Johnrique and newish lady driver Theresa Poalses. Johnrique was encouraged by race control to see if he can bring his lap time down to less than 25 seconds. He was even bribed with ice cream..!  (That was by me, haha…) He succeeded in doing a 24.64 sec lap in the last leg of his finals. Of course he got his ice cream.. Theresa also got one lap of 24 seconds in her 1st qualifier round, but it could have been a corner cut, because she never repeated that performance. I am sure that she will have more self confidence next month!

Beginners Overall results:

  1. Johnrique Claes
  2. Theresa Poalses

Heat 4 – 540 Electric Touring:

This class was dominated by Jakkie Landsberg. His fastest lap – 18.87 seconds. The real challenge for runner-up was amongst Schalk Vorster, Johnny Claes and Paul Langenhoven. All three of them stood an equal chance to end in the 2nd overall place. Lucas Dillschnitter, who always poses a threat in this class, never started. At first it was a blown servo that prevented him from racing and after that was fixed, the spur gear stripped. Anette also stopped racing in this class when she too had a blown servo. Paul Langenhoven apparently blown his motor during the qualies, which he replaced during the lunch break and joined the race again for the Finals.

540 Overall results:

  1. Jakkie Landsberg
  2. Johnny Claes
  3. Schalk Vorster

Heat 5 – 17.5 Touring:

Although there were 9 very capable drivers in this heat, the question was: Who was going to be the champ; Marius, Harry or Jason? Or Kevin Bann? All four of these guys are known for racing laps of less than 17 seconds. The fastest lap on this day for this class belongs to Marius Burger – 16.40 seconds. Well done!

17.5 Overall Results:

  1.  Jason Landsberg

  2.  Harry Wilesmith

   3. Kevin Bann

Heat 6:TTO1:

Only three ladies this month. Charmaine was late and DNS for round 1. Anette achieved two more laps than Marika, who was visibly struggling to handle her car. Something was VERY wrong, because her car swayed a lot. After Charmaine joined the race, Anette was the one who couldn’t control her car properly, after a lower control arm’s ball joint broke. For the finals Marika got new tyres and Anett’e car was ‘patched’ and they both could at least complete the race.

TTO1 Overall results:

  1. Charmaine Wright
  2. Anette Ogden
  3. Marika Claes

Heat 7 – 13.5 Touring:

Out of these 5 guys it was any body’s race; never the same Top Three results.

But at the end it was Marius Burger who boasted the fastest lap – 16.39 seconds.

13.5 Overall results:

  1. Craig Joubert
  2. Harry Wilesmith
  3. Kevin Bann

Thanks for sharing your day with us.

Keep well and see you all again early December for prize giving!!
