Meyerton RC Raceway Racing

May 2016 On Road Elec Club Race

An average day at the track. Not too cold, not too hot, not too busy and not too slack.  There were 7 classes, although in some of those classes we only had three drivers. Visitors, mostly related to or friends of the drivers, added a little spice to the day.

Beginner Class:

Dana Cato joined our club race after an absence of a couple of months. At first she wasn’t as comfortable on the driver stand as she had been before, but as the day progressed, she found her rhythm and improved with every race. Early morning her average lap time was 27 seconds and at the end of the day it was 24.7..see what I mean? Dana’s best lap; 22.33 sec.

Theresa Poalses’s best race for the day was the 2nd round of the qualifiers. She reached her goal of doing a lap or two in less than 25 seconds.

Then we had a brand new driver in the form of Janu Lombard. His dad persuaded him to rather go for RC racing after being in a motorcycle accident that led him to the operation theatre one time too many. Janu was driving an old model car, which did not give him much opportunity to perform. So Janu, sell that motorbike and get yourself a descent RC car. We are waiting for your return! Hopefully soon…

Beginner Overall:

Mini Class:

Jason Landsberg won most of the races in this class for the day. His dad Jakkie was his biggest opponent and even succeeded in beating him in the 1st leg of the Finals. Ewald van der Neut struggled to get going at first, but he performed better and better as the day progressed. He improved from a best lap of 23.44 to one of 21.37 sec. Jakkie’s fastest lap was 20.74 sec and Jason’s 21.07. Well done, all three of you. You have the ability to make those small cars move pretty fast!

Mini Overall:

540 Touring:

Jakkie Landsberg didn’t get much of a challenge from Anette. (that’s me) But I did manage to improve some more on my best lap time from last month, when I broke through the 21 second barrier. Whoop whoop! Ah, but Jakkkie still drove circles around me; he sommer overlapped me 3 times! Jakkie’s fastest lap 19.05 sec.

21.5 Touring:

Jakkie Landsberg – yet again- beat his opponents in every race. His best lap 19.46 sec.  But that doesn’t mean that it came easy.. because Ewald van der Neut with his 19.87 and Tiny Wright with his 20.11 weren’t far behind him.

21.5 Overall:

TTO1 Stock:

Henry, who is usually not a big fan of electric racing, had a change of heart and decided to take part in this class. He competed against Rolan Ferreira and Andrew Cowell.  Henry used a car that I stopped racing in the end of December 2015. His best lap – 23.19 sec. Rolan was unbeatable. He won 3 of the 4 races and his best lap was 21.84 sec. Andrew, a newcomer, quickly got the hang of it and improved from an average lap time of 28 seconds to 23.01!!! He even managed to beat his friend Rolan in the last race! Andrew’s fastest lap – 21.35 sec. Well done! Hope to see you again in future.

TTO1 Overall:

17.5 Touring:

André Steenekamp  couldn’t complain about his race results. He drove 20 laps in very race and his fastest lap was 16.58 sec.

JP Sweeck had a bit of mixed results. He kicked off with a 2nd place and a best lap of 16.50 sec. He unfortunately had a Did Not Start in the last race of the day.

Jason Landsberg had himself a good race day. He started his day with a win in this class. In the last leg of the Final race he succeeded in getting in a lap more in this 6 minute race. (22 laps) His best lap – 16.29 sec.

Harry Wilesmith: Very fast, as always! Fastest lap – 16.48 seconds.

Marius Burger had a slow start when he was out of the race for more than two minutes in Round 1. He recovered strong enough to win the 2nd round. And the 1st leg of the Final. And the last leg for the day! Best lap – 16.25 sec. Well done!!

17.5 Overall:

13.5 Touring:

Here we go again: Marius Burger won all 4 races in this class for the day. His fastest lap – 16.07 sec.

Harry Wilesmith ended 2nd every time . His best lap – 16.27 sec.

Rolan gave this class a go, but although he did fine (18.70 sec) he still has a long way to go to catch up with the likes of Marius and Harry. We will keep an eye on your performance, Rolan.

13.5 Overall:

Below:
