A bit of background info: The founding meeting was held at the home of Henry Ogden, that is adjacent to the tracks, on December 10 th 2008.
Not a cold day at all, although we are still in the winter season here in South Africa, but a ghastly wind spoiled the day for all of us. The drivers are saying that they could hardly stand firmly on the driver stand …..even the ones with a wee bit more flesh around the mid section… Haha
No seriously, totally unpleasant, these August winds….
Oh, I forgot to say; it was also an ‘undersized’ club race, today.
The guys and ladies all had their own personal reasons for not being here today and we respect their choices. Would have loved to have had the regular eight to ten 8th scale GT drivers, though…
Rolan Ferreira and his bride came by to purchase a GT. Let’s hope something pans out there for the club.
Best Presented:
Johan Korff, according to his girlfriend, Vinette, has been working on a brand new GT body for a considerable time already. Planning & Painting.. Well. It paid off, because today he has won the Best Presented RC Body award. Congratulations!
GT Qualifiers:
Francois Geyser was out of the race for almost two minutes in the 1st qualifier.
Johan Korff won the race with Henry behind him in2nd and Piet du Toit in 3rd.
In the 2nd qualifier it was Henry’s turn to lose a bit of racing time.
Piet won the race with Korff now in 2nd place and Francois in 3rd.
The 3rd qualifier was won by Piet again and Korff again in 2nd.
Now Henry has ended 3rd and Francois DNS
Piet had been the winner of the 4th and last qualifier with Francois behind him and Henry in 3rd position.
Korff DNS
Best lap time during Qualifiers : Piet du Toit - 19.44s Well done!
FINAL 1/8th GT:
Francois had a very late start. Apparently his car just wouldn’t start. But he eventually, after more than six minutes, joined his rivals. Halfway through the race he was off again, this time for more than 14 minutes. He came back once more and finished the race. I like…I like….
Henry had a runaway after 41 laps and after replacing his car’s battery, he also went back and finished the race. He completed 53 laps all-in-all.
Johan Korff had a very satisfying race. He finished 82 laps of which the quickest one was 19.98s. He achieved the 2nd place overall.
Piet du Toit won the 1st place overall. He couldn’t improve on his best lap in the qualifiers, but his 18.95 sec lap is definitely nothing to complain about.. Total of 84 laps. Good job, Piet. Congratulation!
Hope to see a huge increase in the number of entries next month.
