Meyerton RC Raceway Racing

March 2019 Nitro

Nitro GT club race March 2019:

Once again a fun filled club race day at Meyerton Raceway.
Two of the 4 qualifier rounds were won by André Steenekamp and the other two by Piet du Toit.
These two guys are currently our best nitro drivers. But Francois Geyser is creeping closer with every race. Even Francois’ wife Esmarie is fast becoming a potential threat to the men folk. She broke through the 19 second barrier in this race meeting, so don’t expect her to hold back now! This girl is on the move, and there is only one way and that is UP! Watch out, guys!
Esmarie  unfortunately lost a wheel just before the Finals started. Husband Francois was racing and she could'nt count on anybody to quickly fit another wheel. So, when Henry quit the race after his car broke halfway through the race, he fitted the new wheel for her and she was able to put in 28 laps.

The drivers all had female pit crew this month:

Round 1:
André completed 20 laps and his average lap time was a brilliant 18.79s
Piet 2nd, Esmarie 3rd and Henry 4th
Francois did not start.
Round 2:
Piet won this round. Esmarie was 2nd, Francois 3rd and Henry 4th. Andre experienced car trouble and retired after 14 laps.
Round 3:
André had a late start and that was all Piet needed to clench another victory. But not before Andre achieved a best lap of 17.17 seconds. This time Henry took the 3rd place.
Esmarie had a late start and Francois a VERY late start!
Round 4:
Andre reclaimed his 1st position and now Piet was the one with the car trouble.
Francois ended 2nd and was followed by his wife Esmarie.
Henry came 4th.
Piet completed 15 laps before he retired from the race.

GT finals:
Overall:

1. André Steenekamp    93 laps
2. Piet du Toit                  90 laps
3. Francois Geyser          84 laps
