A bit of background info: The founding meeting was held at the home of Henry Ogden, that is adjacent to the tracks, on December 10 th 2008.
This race meeting started at 10, a bit late, but seeing that there were only 4 classes, nobody really cared about the time. And as it was still in the middle of winter in South Africa, it was quite surprising to see that there were already short sleeves seen during drivers briefing.
Louis Nortje showed up with a freshly painted Honda body for his car in the Mini class.
He won the award for Best Presented RC body for the Day with it. Congratulations!
Electric Mini:
Qualifier round 1 was won by Rolan Ferreira. He completed 16 laps, of which the fastest one had been 22.2sec.
Rolan was followed by his friend Louis, who equaled his 16 laps, but whose average lap time was a mere .1 seconds slower than that of Rolan.
Francois Geyser, who is competing in this class with his cute little green Nissan body, ended 3rd. Francois’s consistency score is 97.36 percent. Good job!
Mike Miscia did not complete the race and neither did André Steenekamp.
Leon van Rooyen did not start.
The 2nd qualifier and both the Final legs were won by Mike Miscia.
Mike can be proud to boast the best lap time of the day in this class – 21.20s
PLUS: Mike’s consistency reached an amazing 98.69% in the last race of the day. Great!!
In all of the abovementioned races, Leon van Rooyen ended 2nd. Leon’s lap times were also of exceptionally high standard – 21.29s. Excellent!
André had various measures of success, but he too succeeded in completing a lap of only 22.19
Louis boasts a 22.10s WOW!!
Francois upped his consistency score to 98.19%
Overall:
540 Electric Touring:
It seems like Leon van Rooyen started racing in this class, but quit after the 1st qualifier round.
That left the class with only the two drivers, namely his son Erich van Rooyen and James Theron.
Little Owen Stevens joined these two drivers for the last leg of the finals.
The quickest lap in this class for the day belongs to Leon – 19.56s
Overall results:
TTO1 class:
Erich van Rooyen, still a primary school boy, is an older a much more experienced driver than his rival, little Owen Stevens.
Owen nevertheless put up a big fight and raced his heart out, although his car did not allow him to be much of a real threat to Erich. Erich’s best lap - 23.10s
The end result was quite predictable.
21.5 Touring:
Leon van Rooyen won three out of the four races in this class. The last one for the day was won by Mike Miscia. Mike boasts two 2nd places and one victory.
Mike’s frequent 19 seconds laps probably made him the overall winner and he deserves that honor, but Leon has nothing to feel bad about, because he also did VERY well !!!!!!
James Theron is getting better every month; he boasts one 2nd place and one 3rd place. Good job!
Esmarie Geyser had herself a good day’s racing; she was seen in 3rd place twice today.
Gert Fourie performed satisfactory; he stayed in the 4th place for most of the day
Martin Stevens and Henry Ogden did just fine, reaching best laps of 21 seconds. Martin even completed a lap of just 20.8 at one stage. Well done!
Fastest lap of the day - Mike Miscia - 19.10s
