Welcome to Meyerton RC Clubs’ Website, please feel free to browse our site for upcoming events and archives of past events.
A bit of background info: The founding meeting was held at the home of Henry Ogden, that is adjacent to the tracks, on December 10 th 2008.
Not a big race in the middle of a Gauteng winter season, but we all know that there also were other RC race meetings taking place at other clubs on the same day. (Which we cannot feel bad about; because our club’s racing dates are out every year before the year ends) This month we did not even had a Truggy class and the local guys had their very own, intimate Buggy competition.
A terribly cold start to a day that later turned into a warm, summer’s day!! What a blessing?! And amidst the racing Henry and I attended to quite a few visitors that showed real interest in RC racing. I took the opportunity to ask a few pertinent questions, for example why they chose Meyerton Raceway as the track/club of their choice. The general feedback was that we made them feel welcome from the very first moment they showed up at the track. And that they pick up a feeling of camaraderie amongst the drivers. Although lots of prospective buyers come to us with their minds already made up about what they want; they always thank us afterwards for not allowing them to make hasty decisions. We always try and convince them to rather take time, attend races of all three disciplines – on road electric, on road nitro and off road – before they buy.
January to June 2016 Electric On Road Prize Giving
Meyerton Raceway has got this practice of awarding trophies to drivers that competed and excelled in a specific class for every semester (6 month period) . Should a person like to move on to another class halfway through the year, they can still be rewarded for their performance during the past semester. We however do not include the Beginners in the awards, because we encourage them to move on to ‘proper’ classes as soon as they are capable of doing so. ..Which in most cases are much quicker than 6 months.
Should a new class kicks off during a semester, they are excluded from that series, but will be included in the next full semester, providing there are enough interest for that period. During the past 6 months, we could not get enough REGULAR drivers in the TTO1 Stock class to justify an award, and the same goes for the 13.5 Electric Touring.
What is REALLY important though, is to be present at every race meeting. Regardless of how fast you are, if you are not there, you cannot collect series points.
