The whole idea behind starting this new series at Meyerton Raceway was to offer those who are not interested in SARDA National events, the opportunity to compete in at least 4 serious, competitive races a year.  It was in fact a couple of on-road guys that approached Henry with the request to start a series like the very successful RCX, but in this case for the on road side. We even adapted the entry fee to match that of the off-road RCX series.

Henry got up early and started sugaring the track at 6am. He was only done for a few minutes, when a rain shower came along and washed the sugar right off again! Eish!!!Not nice… Drivers from afar said that by looking at the sky on their way to Meyerton, the prospect of a successful race day didn’t look good at all. But after the rain subsided quite early – about 8 o’ clock – it stayed away and the day became scorching hot once again.

The loads of new people that we had the pleasure of meeting during the December recess (or in our case; more of a January recess) was a huge, but very welcome surprise.  We do hope that they will soon have enough confidence to take part in our club races.  I know Chris Nel is ready…  As far as our “old” members are concerned, you can be sure that after the long Christmas break, it was equally nice to see all the familiar faces again.
